AICTE has finally agreed to remove the the mandatory clause from the notice on implementing Office­365. The decision comes in light of concerns raised by some eminent politicians, free software supporters and people from the academia.

As we reported earlier, Debian 7 has been released today amid much fanfare. Stable Debian releases come out only after years of thorough testing and bug-fixing, and that is why each major Debian release is highly anticipated in the Linux community, more so by the barrage of distributions that are derived from Debian, including Ubuntu, Mint and MEPIS.

MySQL was once the most popular open source database (it still is), but it's declining under the leadership of Oracle. The founder of MySQL Michael Widenius "Monty" founded MariaDB, an open source database, which is gaining popularity lately. It's not only become the default database of the leading open source operating systems, but is also replacing MySQL at WikiMedia and other major organizations and companies. Recently SkySQL merged with MariaDB's parent company Monty Program Ab, increasing its developer force.
