Red Hat has now responded with an amended counterclaim against Twin Peaks Software. Red Hat is using GNU GPL as a weapon against Twin Peaks in this court battle. Red Hat says in its counterclaim that Twin Peak is violating GNU GPL.

Great news for Gnome fans. The second alpha of Ubuntu GNOME Remix 12.10 is out for testing. If you are a Gnome Shell enthusiast then you can test the alpha builds.

Mozilla Foundation has released a video demo of Firefox OS. The HTML5 based mobile operating system, which used to be called Boot 2 Gecko, runs well on a smart phone and is capable of doing some basic tasks.

While Linux has tons of web browsers to choose from, little is heard from Gnome's own web browser – Web. While Gnome 3.6 is going to be released soon and developers pledging to make it the best release ever, its not surprising that this web browser has got tons of changes and more integration with the overall desktop environment.

Ubuntu has been gaining popularity in enterprise and business desktop lately, but one of the most successful ventures of Ubuntu has been in education sector so far. In Andalusia, Spain, 220,000 PCs switched to Ubuntu to provide vendor neutral and free computing for students. This widens the field of Canonical to provide support services and earn revenue in return.

Gnome 3.6 is scheduled to be out on 26th September and the Gnome foundation has released the second beta release of Gnome 3.5.91. However, they are in source format and compiling and testing them is a hard task for a desktop Linux user. The good news is, you can download an ISO of this release and test Gnome 3.6 awesomeness before its final release.

NVIDIA

NVIDIA will continue to maintain drivers for GeForce 6 and 7 series graphics cards till 2017. Earlier the company had decided to drop support for this series of drivers. According to this knowledge base article, 304.x series of drivers that provide support for most 6 and 7 series graphics cards will be maintained for compatibility with newer kernels and X server.
