The most awaited superphone has arrived. Hundreds of customers lined up outside Verizon Wireless Communications Stores in U.S. cities, including at special midnight openings in Columbia, Md. and Frisco, Texas, to be among the first to purchase Verizon Wireless’ new DROID X by Motorola, which went on sale today.
It's sheer luck of Verizon and Motorola that Droid X has hit the market at the right time. Apple's iPhone 4 is facing numerous problems -- call drops due to antenna and misplaced proximity sensor.
Despite complaints, the strong Apple fan-base is driving the sales of iPhone 4. However, the ever increasing complaints and lawsuits also show that customers are not happy with the iPhone 4. Users are mainly upset with the way Apple is handling this issue. This could lead a major chunk of iPhone buyers to go for Droid X.
Apple's timed announcement of a press conference on Friday may appear to be a coincidence. Or is Apple trying to kill two birds with one shot? One: steal thunder from the Droid X availability by starting buzz about its press conference. Two: send a message to potential iPhone customers to wait till Friday before going for Droid X. This is mere hypothesis.
Once Droid X reaches consumers' hands and reviews start pouring in, it will become harder for Apple to convince 'non-Apple' buyers to pick iPhone 4 if the problems remained unsolved.
Verizon is already doing a decent job by learning a few lessons from Apple. The companies is doing its best to create hype around the Droid X.
If you are swinging between the iPhone 4 and Droid X, which one will you go for? Will you wait till saturday or grab a Droid X today?
Do you already have a Droid X, why don't you send us a review? (Send us your review with images at "media @ katonda . com")
