Angry Birds has become the first popular game to be using the powerful HTML 5 technology, indicating the inevitable decline of proprietary and attack magnet Adobe Flash.

You can now play Angry Bird on Ubuntu or other Linux distros such as Linux Mint and Fedora using the Google Chrome browser.

Rovio, the company behind Angry Birds has released a Beta version of the game in Chrome Web Store. The availability is times quite well as Google just announced its Chromebooks.

According to Rovio press release, "This is only a beta release of the game, and so far we have 63 levels of the original game available, with an additional 7 special Chrome levels! We are working on bringing more levels to Chrome, and planning on making the Mighty Eagle available as an in-app purchase option."

Arrival of Angry Birds  HTML 5 version also brings an end to the platform locks. Users across platforms whether it be GNU/Linux, Mac or Windows will get same user experience.

Here is a video of Angry Birds running in Ubuntu.
