While Microsoft is planning to bring its Office suite to Android and iOS (after repeatedly failed attempts in mobile OS market and sinking Nokia's boat), Google has acquired QuickOffice, the best mobile office suite for Android and iOS devices. With this acquisition, Google now has an off-line office suite for Android and iOS to compete with Microsoft's Office.

It will be interesting to see if Google open sources QuickOffice, the way it has done with other products it acquired.

Alan Warren, Engineering Director, Google, says, "Quickoffice has a strong base of users, and we look forward to supporting them while we work on an even more seamless, intuitive and integrated experience. Quickoffice has an established track record of enabling seamless interoperability with popular file formats, and we'll be working on bringing their powerful technology to our Apps product suite."

It will also be interesting to see how QuickOffice will integarte with Google Drive. Do you think Google will open source QuickOffice?
