OpenSUSE: An Artist's Heaven, Make You Tablet Pen Work Under Linux

Tablet pens are one of the finest tools an artist can have in this digital age. I am not an artist per say; I am a wannabe. I own an iBall Tablet pen, which I used for sketching. I was using it under Ubuntu successfully until Lucid. After that version my tablet never worked. There was a PPA but it did not get upgraded beyond Natty so my tablet has been collecting dust ever since.

Gnome Shell Customization: Panel-Docklet L

Gnome Shell

Gnome Shell 3 has been my favorite from the day one it was released. Even my wife found it cool. It is becoming more and more useful with the new extensions being added at an unprecedented rate. I have switched my desktop to KDE and Gnome Shell 3 so that I can get my work done without being interrupted by the inconsistent UI design. While KDE offers immense customization (you can do almost everything in KDE), Gnome shell is fast approaching there.

Meet KDE's Own HUD - AppMenu Runner

Alex Fiestas has restarted working on a project called AppMenu Runner which implements the same ideas of Unity's HUD. 'Actions Lookup' as Alex Fiestas named it more than a year ago (the blog was posted on December 22, 2010) can be a very useful tool, if it can be integrated with krunner. He has made another attempt at Actions Menu (which he now calls AppMenu Runner) and has published the code.

Canonical Changes Treatment For Kubuntu! [Updated]

Jonathan Riddel has announced that, "Canonical will no longer be funding my work on Kubuntu after 12.04. Canonical wants to treat Kubuntu in the same way as the other community flavors such as Edubuntu, Lubuntu, and Xubuntu, and support the projects with infrastructure. This is a big challenge to Kubuntu of course and KDE as well."

Mind-Controlled Game, Mind Labyrinth, Comes To Linux

Neurosky

Linux has yet to become a platform for gaming. Ubuntu is doing a decent job by increasing focus on polish and looks of the Debian-based operating system to make to more appealing to users and OEMs. Linux may be missing the high-end games, but there are quite a lot of games that one can play under a GNU/Linux system such as Ubuntu, openSUSE or Linux Mint.

Can Lubuntu Lure Windows 8 Users?

One of the biggest challenges that Windows users will soon face is the transition to an unknown territory called Metro which will be introduced with Windows 8. The PC interface has remained same ever since Apple took the concept from Xerox and made it popular through Lisa. It has improved and evolved over ages, but just like the front seat of a car has remained same for some good reason, just the way QWERTY keyboard has been around for ever.

How To Fix Firefox Font Rendering In openSUSE 12.1 Gnome 3

I started using openSUSE only recently. openSUSE needed some work in the beginning as I was new on the OS, but more I used it more I liked it. The only eyesore on openSUSE, with Gnome 3 was font rendering in Firefox. I tried couple of methods but none worked. Then I found the solution and I am sharing with you so that if you are one of such users like me you can get benefit from it. The credit goes to the developer who created the fix -- Muzlocker.
