openSUSE 12.2 Milestone 3 is now available for download and testing. It was expected to be released last week but there were some delays due to the move to a i686 desktop kernel for 32-bit systems.
Grub2 in openSUSE
One of the most notable features of openSUSE 12.2 is the use of Grub 2 which brings an end to the plight of multi-booters who can't see other distros such as Ubuntu or Linux Mint after openSUSE installation. However there is a notorious bug. Grub 2 files are missing from the images. The same problem was there in the Milestone 2 and despite bug report the problem remains in Milestone 3 as well. There is however a way to use Grub2. Run openSUSE 12.2 in the live more and install grub2, then go ahead to install it.

Improved Software Store Experience
The overall openSUSE experience is getting better and better. The online software store has gone through an impressive makeover, making it a pleasant experience to install apps. All you need is search for your desired app and hit the 'Direct Install" button.
If you are an openSUSE user its time for you to help the team. As Jos Poortvliet suggests, "Of course you're wondering how you can help. This can start with testing. Go to software.opensuse.org/developer, download Milestone 3 and try it out on your system! You can then check the most annoying bugs to see if your problems are there, if not, you can see the list of bugs and/or file a new one in Bugzilla. If the bug you find is very serious, add it tho the list of annoying bugs!"
