The popular Media Center application XBMC is now available for Ubuntu and Linux Mint users, thanks to Debian. The application is now available through Ubuntu Software Center on Ubuntu 12.04 as it has been accepted into the official Debian distribution. The application was earlier available through a PPA.

The credit to bring XBMC to Debian goes to the hard work of Andres Mejia who was working to become a Debian Developer. Due to the complexity of XBMC it made the review process so difficult, in order for the application to be accepted in Debian.
The XBMC blogs says that the app has already been included in several major Linux distributions, but Debian is a big target because of the size of the community around it. As most Linux users are probably aware, other major distros such as Ubuntu and Mint derive (or derive indirectly) from Debian, and sync their packages regularly.
Ubuntu users should be thankful to Andres who succeeded in requesting a sync to Ubuntu in time to hit Precise Pangolin, so users of this next LTS release will be able to install XBMC with just a few clicks (or an apt-get).
