LXDE is known for its light weight and ability to run fast even on low-end machines. The simple and traditional UI also makes its easier to use by average users who prefer good old Gnome 2 style UI. What could be better than LXDE running on top of none other than Linux Mint itself, the #1 distro on the DistroWatch.
The Linux Mint team has announced the release of Linux Mint 12 LXDE. This is the first release of Linux Mint using Hybrid ISO images. These images make it extremely easy to create Live USB of Linux Mint with just one command.
Linux Mint 12 features the upstream components including Ubuntu 11.10, Linux 3.0 and LXDE 0.5.0.
As usual DuckDuckGo is the default search engine of Linux Mint. But you can easily change it, just remember that there is a deal between the two project and DDG generates revenues for the free Linux Mint. So, if you do want to change the search engine from DDG to Google, please consider making a donation to the Linux Mint team to help them bring to you one of the greatest GNU/Linux distributions.
