openSUSE is a great GNU/Linux based distro. The more I use it the more I am getting familiar with it.

There were some areas which needed extra work as compared to a Debian based distro such as Linux Mint and Ubuntu but those were easy to fix. One such area was Hindi font rendering in openSUSE.

I also head a Hindi Literature site called Hindi Kalkion and our editor was going out for vacation so I had to take control of publication. When I opened the site in openSUSE, I could not read it. This is what I saw.

If you are facing a similar problem, here is an easy solution. Open Yast Software Management and search for indic-fonts.

Indic Fonts

Install the indic-fonts and restart x or simply logout of openSUSE and login. The sites should now display fonts correctly.
