One of the reasons I bought the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 was sketching or drawing. I love sketching, though I am not a pro but I do like sketching for my stories. Unfortunately, my favorite apps Sketchbook by Autodesk was not optimized for Honeycomb or Tablets. The good news is, this morning Autodesk released a new app for Android called Sketchbook Pro, which is optimized for Tablets and also offer landscape mode for sketching.

The app is available for only $4.99. I bought and installed the app. This was the first time I was making full use of my $30 Samsung Stylus that I bought from Tiger Direct.

Sketchbook Pro

Sketchbook Pro is one of the best and most polished sketching app on Android tablets. I heavily recommend it for aspirant artists using Android Tablets.

The new app comes with cool features such as Landscape UI, professional-grade brushes, 60 Preset brushes, synthetic fall-off and  option for pressure sensitivity.

You can also set the canvas size, based on screen resolution. There are 6 layers which you can use to create professional grade artwork. The app also offers a layer editor with controls and option for layer transform. You can import and export images – supports PNG, JPEG & layered PSD.

In a nutshell, Sketchbook Pro is a very powerful tool for artists. I will be using my tablet extensively for sketching and drawing, will keep you posted with my artwork (how about a comic strip?)
