The year 2012 has not been a good year for android manufacturers, with an exception of Samsung which hit success with high volume sales. While Samsung captued the largest smartphone market share, other manufactures failed to report profits.

Surprisingly LG is on the path of turning things around. Everything changed for the South Korean company after the significant success of LG Optimus G and then the runaway hit of LG manufactured Google Flagship device Nexus 4, which still has a huge backorder.

LG plans to take this inertia forward to the next year and make some serious progress in the mobile front. Their new flagship device is already under construction with rumours stating that the phone will be featuring a 5.5 inch 1080p display.

Surely LG is trying to compete with the highly successful phablet, Samsung Galaxy Note II with its large screen size. Full HD resolution phones should be the norm in 2013 with most flagship devices featuring them and LG doesn’t want to stay behind in this aspect.

The Optimus G2 is expected to have a quad-core processor at its heart, a 2-3GB of RAM for better multitasking, a larger battery pack to keep things powered for a longer time and a 5.5 inch 1920x1080 full HD IPS+ display gracing its front. We can also expect Android Key Lime Pie on the device if things fall in their places by May 2013, which is when LG is planning to launch the flagship phone.
