Linux Mint developers have announced an updated ISO images for the Linux mint 14.1 "Nadia". They released this update for fixing major bugs found in the Linux mint 14.0.
This release will fix these problems:
High CPU usage, low performance on Intel GPU: This problem affected the user of the Intel cards particularly. Rather than using the “intel” driver, Xorg was randomly using “modesetting” or “fbdev” and the desktop was rendered by the CPU rather than the GPU using LLVMPIPE software rendering.
This issue was fixed by MDM 1.0.8 which is available on Backports for Maya and for for Nadia. MDM 1.0.8 is already installed on new ISOs.
No DNS resolution, Internet not working in virtual machine:
New release is designed to use OpenDNS in fallback mode for DNS resolution when system fails to connect with DNS server. This guarantees user better connectivity in virtual machines.
Installer fails to install grub-efi:
In previous release, on EFI installations installer fails to instal grub-efi packages. This bug is solved on Linux mint 14.1. However depending on your system you still need to disable secure boot in installer or might have to specify location for EFI boot file, Normally EFI/BOOT/grubx64.efi.
If you have not installed Linux Mint 14 yet, grab the latest 14.1 builds. If you are already running 14.0 an update will take care of it.
