The Unity desktop is getting more featured and robust day by day. While there is a new lens published almost everyday, and loads of themes and customizations available online, developers are also planning to include widgets in next version of Ubuntu 13.04.
The idea was decided in Ubuntu developer summit held in Copenhagen this year.
This will put the Unity desktop at par with KDE which supports loads of widgets by default.
Unity today is more stable, and thankfully, more usable. The Unity dash search with “anything and everything” motto just works, and you can access files, videos, apps, news and more from just one click or key press. Web apps integration in Ubuntu 12.10 makes the web services to come even closer to your desktop, thereby, bridging the gap between desktop apps and web.
While hated by some individuals at first, rapid changes and development of the Unity desktop in the course of just one year has brought enough praise and respect from users.
