Canonical has some great plans for the next Ubuntu 13.04 release. Apart from targeting it to mobile devices and making it suitable for tablets and netbooks, Ubuntu developers are planning to make programming apps for Ubuntu easier. The good outcome of such thoughts is that Ubuntu 13.04 may ship an SDK along with usual apps.
Software development kits are used to make app development easier and faster. Also there are other plans like improving the documentation online and attracting more software developers to work on Ubuntu platform.
This is not the first time Ubuntu has taken steps to make their platform more developer friendly. Earlier, there was a contest cum workshop called Ubuntu App showdown in which people can develop app and submit it to the software center. Best apps chosen by the jury as well as the users were given exciting prizes like laptops and phones. This resulted in a great number of apps being made, hundred being added in the software center and lot of interest generated in the developer community.
Also there are proposals of reviewing the app upload process so that it becomes easy for programmers to publish their apps.
It will become clear in Ubuntu developer summit as what the changes really will be.
