Canonical has released the second beta of the upcoming Ubuntu release, Ubuntu 12.10. You can download the beta from this page. If you are already using Ubuntu 12.10, you no longer need to install beta 2, a single update will be enough.

Some of the major changes in Ubuntu beta 2 are:

  • Unity: new animations, transition effects and better stability.
  • New wallpaper
  • Amazon lens
  • Ubuntu one webapps integration
  • Photos lens to display online and offline pictures
  • Gwibber lens featuring Facebook, Twitter, Identi.ca
  • Post and retweet without leaving the dash.
  • New messaging menu with status
  • Remote desktop by default in LightDM

This is the last beta release of Ubuntu 12.10 cycle. The final release is scheduled on 18th October.
