Canonical's global marketing expert, John Bernard has left Ubuntu to join Firefox. The news was reported by marketingmagazine.co.uk. Benard is among top ten marketers in UK and has a track record of working with big companies like Sony Ericsson and LG.

Firefox OS is scheduled to be released next year by Chinese phone manufacturer ZTE. This will be Bernard's first venture in mobile OS platform.

Canonical spokeswoman confirmed the decision of Bernard changing roles:

"We can confirm that John will be leaving Canonical at the end of the week. After over three years at Canonical working on many of our marketing initiatives with OEMs, we wish John all the best in his new role at Mozilla," she said.

Though its a loss for Ubuntu, it will be a great gain for Mozilla, another open-source company that aims to make the web free. Firefox OS has high potential to make smart phones cheap and accessible to all.
