Unity lenses are increasing day by day, and the official lenses allow you to do a lot of things from browsing pictures, videos and music to purchasing products and installing apps. Also, independent developers are working to integrate hell new features in the Unity dash. One such lens is the Unity VM lens that allow you to browse and run your virtual machines in a single click.
Personally I like it, because I don't have to open VirtualBox to start a new VM. Just type and click, and it runs fast and sleek. I do hope that someone will make a similar extension for the Gnome Shell soon.

To install this lens in Ubuntu:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:scopes-packagers/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install unity-lens-vm
