Cinnamon 1.6 has released and it brings with it lot of bug fixes with brand new features and improvements.

Worskspace On – screen display
With Cinnamon 1.6 you can stamp a name to your workspaces. This will help you define your workspaces according to your activities. The worskspace's name appears on the screen when you switch workspaces. The Workspace On-screen-display is also configurable, so that you can set its duration, its position on the screen and if you want it to show up or not.

Window Quick-List
The Window quick list is a new applet which lists all the windows open across all workspaces. Scale has also received improvements in terms of keyboard navigation. Now you can quickly find your windows by name or by looking at them. Both scale and Expo are now available as applets as opposed to hot corners and can be used in complement or replacement of the window quick list.

Notifications Tray
Notifications applet keeps track of any notification you did not dismiss. Since notifications in cinnamon disappear immediately after you click them or they disappear automatically after few seconds. The Notifications tray collects the notifications that you did not click on.

Improved Sound Applet
The sound applet has gone under a rework and now makes the cover art more prominent. The volume slider has a visible percentage meter and amplification past 100% is no more available. New buttons for tooltips and mute have been added for the sound and microphone.

Backgrounds Selection and Nemo Integration
Cinnamon’s default file browser is now Nemo, but it can also be used with Nautilus or other file browsers. Apart from the tight integration for Nemo, there’s also a brand new background selection screen available in Cinnamon 1.6

Apart from the above most significant changes, there have been more than 800 minor changes and bug fixes in Cinnamon 1.6.
