The Gnome foundation had earlier announced plans to develop a Software Center like app for the desktop that will allow easier installation and updates of apps. While the PackageKit is pushed to the back, here are some design ideas put forward in Gnome Live.
Like all software stores, the app will have a home screen featuring categories, popular and featured apps.
Selecting the app will open description and also have a tab for reviews and related apps.
Lovely notifications are also being planned.

We hope this Gnome Software to ship soon, maybe in Gnome 3.8.
