Ubuntu has been gaining popularity in enterprise and business desktop lately, but one of the most successful ventures of Ubuntu has been in education sector so far. In Andalusia, Spain, 220,000 PCs switched to Ubuntu to provide vendor neutral and free computing for students. This widens the field of Canonical to provide support services and earn revenue in return.

Edubuntu has been a education centric distro offering from Canonical, but it was rarely advertised. The Guadalinex EDU, a Spanish Ubuntu based distro specially customized for school environments. Canonical provided its support in form of a Premium Service Engineer during this operation and switching.

Ubuntu also has a business desktop remix specially suited for work environments.
