Arch Linux based KDE distro Chakra has got a new release. Chakra 2012.08 Claire comes with the brand new KDE 4.9 desktop along with a new Dharma theme. This release is available in x86_64 architecture only as i686 support has been dropped.
Some other great features of this release are:
- Linux 3.4.6 (3.0.35 optional)
- Latest Grub2-2.00, including graphical dharma theme, Qt 4.8.2
- DVD image, including all locales and a nice selections of apps
- Kapudan, Chakra's desktop greeter, and all around first setup tool
- Enhancements to Chakra tools like cbundle/cinstall, welcome-plasmoid, tribe and the introduction of "spun"
- Updated xorg-server, and all the latest proprietary graphics drivers, including the all new catalyst-legacy
- Move to /usr/lib to prepare for systemd switch
The DVD version of Chakra features Calligra Office Suite 2.5.0, Amarok 2.6, language packs for all translated languages, printer support and more. This release doesn't have a GUI package manager as appset-qt is quite buggy dealing with package database.
