The Unity desktop environment has reached the version of 6.2 in Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal set to release this October. The release fixes over 90 bugs and users can expect overall stability improvements. Mainly a bug fix release, some of the major changes and bug fixed are:

  • Fix for occasional invisible/blank launcher icons
  • Purchased apps now get added automatically at Unity Launch
  • HUD now closes by ALT+F4 even if Num lock and Caps lock are on
  • Faster display in Alt+Tab switcher

Ubuntu 12.10 will also feature Gnome shell desktop environment apart from Unity.
