KDE Productivity and Office suite had its second stable release today with Calligra 2.5. Calligra Active, the mobile variation of this suite also had an update.

Words, the word processor has improved tables editing support. Sheets has a stand alone docker that help to preserve space and also makes data entry easier. Stage, the presentation program has several fixes to stabilize the program and make it more usable. Kexi, the database application now offers a full screen mode through F11.

Some of the new filters included in this suite are:

  • A new import filter for Visio files.
  • A new import filter for MS Works.
  • A new import filter for xfig files.

Management of autosave files, user profiles have been improved. Images now support various effects. And overall, the suite is more stable and usable.

How To Install Calligra 2.5 In Kubuntu & Linux Mint
Kubuntu & Linux Mint users can install Calligra 2.5 with greater ease, just add this kubuntu-ppa. Note that this PPA will also upgrade your current KDE to 4.9.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install calligra
