google drive

While Google is delaying the release of Google Drive on Linux, a lot of third party apps have come up to provide the same functionality. Insync not only allows you to control your Google Drive flawlessly, but also provides more functionality than the original Google Drive app.

This program is available in Windows and Mac, while a beta release on Linux has been made recently. The app comes with Nautilus integration, multiple account support and Appindicator support to display notifications.

Recent changes in this app are:

  • fixes unicode issues
  • faster inotify
  • faster set emblems (using ctypes)
  • faster startup
  • icon and .desktop file
  • fixes unicode issues
  • date format bug fixed
  • adding new directories - warn on errors instead of fail
  • deb depends on: libappindicator3-1, xdotool, nautilus, python-nautilus
  • fixes 32bit deb not working with older ubuntu's

Deb and RPM packages are available which will make the installation easier:

32 Bit Deb | 64 Bit Deb | 32 Bit RPM | 64 Bit RPM

Note: This software is currently in beta. Be ready to experience some rough edges.
