For most of you who like Baskin and Robbins' ice-cream flavors, the "31 Flavors of Fun" must not be an unknown slogan.
One Mr.Todd Robinson seems to have taken this slogan to heart.
Todd Robinson is attempting to create, completely un-assissted mind you, a complete Linux Desktop Operating System each and every day for a period of 31 days. One of the primary reason he cites for doing this is to demonstrate the advantages of using open source solutions in real world. Going a step further, this amazing experience will also compare development speed, costs and required manpower with Microsoft's Windows development of recent Windows releases.
Using 3 Laptops for testing an a Quad-core AMD 3200 desktop PC he is attempting to produce Distros that will have a fully functional GUI, Internet connectivity, a package management system and be upgradeable.
To put some things in perspective, Todd does have a history of building custom Linux Distros, through his company Webpath Technologies. Webpath also owns On-Disk which has been selling Linux CDs since a long time. These facts, however, in no way can undermine the sheer audacity of the feat he is attempting to accomplish.
Needless to say all the 31 Distros produced by Todd will be availanle on On-Disk.com, both as single CDs as well as a Jumbo, bundled DVD pack.
This amazing attempt has been started since 2nd August and he has churned out 7 Distros so far.
Please support him in his attempt to create and spread 31 Linux Distros in 31 days by pointing him to guys who can provide Download Mirror Sponsorship.
