The development team of Warsow has announced the release of Warsow 1.0. This release makes Warsow stable and to come out of beta testing.
The game features an open-source engine with custom game-types support. Users have the freedom to host their own servers and also play multiplayer online. The Warsow site maintains stats about each player and all his achievements are ranked against others.
Warsow is a fast-paced, fun, first-person shooter game available under Linux, Windows and Mac OS. As quoted from their website:
Warsow is set in a futuristic cartoonish world where rocketlauncher-wielding pigs and lasergun-carrying cyberpunks roam the streets. Speed and movement is what Warsow is all about. Like a true cyberathlete you jump, dash, dodge, and walljump your way through the game. Grab power-ups before your enemy does, plant a bomb before anyone sees you, and steal the enemy’s flag before they know what is going on! Our goal is to offer a fast and fun competitive first-person shooter without hard graphical violence - Warsow has no blood or guts flying around. Red stars instead of blood indicate hits and colored cubes replace guts as gib effects.
You can download Warsow from this page. Warsow can also be installed from playdeb repos.
