If you spend most of your waking hours online, using an Internet centric operating system will be a good choice. Google is doing a great job with Google Chrome OS, but that requires you to purchase a Chrome Book. If you need something for free and that will also run on your computer, Chrome OS Linux is here for you.

Chrome OS Linux is a distro thats mainly focused on fulfilling your Internet needs. This makes sense, as just running few services required only for your web needs reduces power consumption as well as hard drive space. Chrome OS Linux, based on openSuse, comes with Linux kernel 3.4.2.

It features Cinnamon 1.4 desktop environment, a Linux Mint sponsored fork of Gnome 3 that is attractive as well as light. Gnome 2 users will feel at home with Cinnamon. Other apps that are included are Chromium 21, which is the main attraction of this OS, Banshee media player, Shotwell, GIMP , LibreOffice and Pidgin to name a few.

So if you were waiting for a Internet centric OS for your PC or notebook, download and give it a try. Note Chrome OS Linux is not related with Google or Google Chrome OS
