With the increase in Internet speed over the past few years, online radio has become more and more popular. Most advanced media players nowadays allow you to stream online radio in your computer. A developer, Didier Roche, has created an Unity Radio Lens that allows you to search, sort and listen local and remote online radio from within Unity desktop.

The lens features thousands of available online radios, ordered by categories. You also get some recommended radios on the top, based on your region and language. You can refine your search results with several parameters, like countries, decades and genres. The lens uses Rhythmbox as a backend for radio playback.

The lens is currently available in Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal and can be installed by adding this PPA.
