The Linux Mint team has announced the release of Linux Mint 13 “Maya” KDE edition. This release is based on Ubuntu 12.04 long term support release and will be supported with security updates for a period of five years. It comes with KDE 4.8, Linux kernel 3.2 along with several improvements and bug fixes.

KDE 4.8 features Kwin optimizations, redesign of power management and integration with activities, QtQuick based Plasma widgets, a new display engine in Dolphin and improvements in Kate and Gwenview. Linux Mint 13 KDE also ships with new set of beautiful wallpapers and Yahoo! is the default search engine in this release.
