The Linux Mint team has released Linux Mint 13 (codenamed Maya) KDE Release Candidate. This is a long-term support edition based on Ubuntu 12.04 and will be supported through security updates for a period of five years. Some of the key highlights of this release includes KDE 4.8, several artwork improvements and search engine changes.

Linux Mint 13 KDE ships the latest stable KDE 4.8 desktop. The window manager Kwin is vastly improved and optimized. Users will also be able to use QtQuick based Plasma widgets and a new display engine in Dolphin. New and beautiful wallpapers are included and Yahoo! is the default search engine.
