The Etherpad Foundation has released a new version of their collaborative web based editor, Etherpad Lite. This release features a lot of bug fixes along with support for node 0.8, new hooks and API endpoints, resolution of various security issues, Postgres support and better Microsoft Windows support out of box.

You can install Etherpad Lite on your PC running Windows or Linux as well as integrate it with various CMS and websites. Etherpad Lite allows collaborative and simultaneous editing of a document by various users connected through various computers as well as chat support. You can think of it as a multi-player Notepad with extra formatting features. Etherpad Lite also has a plugin and API system which makes it extensible and attractive to developers.
