VLC is finally available in Google Play Store. This is the beta version of VLC which is maintained by VLC Mobile Team.

This version is only for devices with a CPU ARMv7 that will support NEON. Other devices will be supported by other applications, very soon. The apps is not supported on all devices, you can check the list of supported devices here. I was able to install in on my Galaxy Nexus but not on Galaxy Tab 10.1. I had to enable hardware acceleration in order to play HD movies. But you can't complain much as This is a BETA version of the port to the Android platform. It is intended for power users and hackers. This version is NOT stable and is slower than the final version.
