For the last few months, the Ubuntu team has been quite busy in attracting more and more developers to its platform. Currently a three week event called Ubuntu App Showdown is going on about which we had posted earlier. You can learn about creating Ubuntu apps in this contest cum event through Google+ hangouts and YouTube videos and also get a chance to win exciting prizes like smartphones and laptops.

The Ubuntu App Review team is inviting developers in Ubuntu App Sprint to be held on IRC channel #ubuntu-arb in freenode from Monday, 2nd July to Wednesday 4th July.

The main aim of this meeting is to simplify the process of review and submissions of apps to developers and also discuss the process and softwares involved in review of apps. Currently  apps are submitted to myApps portal after which they enter a complicated process of review before acceptance in the official repos.  A lot of softwares such as quickly for building apps, apps-brancher, arb-init for reviewing apps, pkgme for creating packages will be discussed in this event.
