Fedora Engineering and Steering Committee had a meeting last Monday regarding features to be included in Fedora's next release codenamed Spherical Cow. The meeting was held on freenode IRC channel - #fedora-meeting. Here is a brief summary of accepted and rejected features.

As we posted earlier, InitalExperience is approved for Fedora 18 release. Clojure, a language and developing platform, will also be shipped by default in Spherical Cow. A new package manager based on Yum 3.4 will also make its debut.

Other approved features include DragonEgg – a gcc optimizer plugin, Hawkey – a package management API, OfflineSystemUpdates (as we posted earlier), DWARF Compressor and MiniDebugInfo. SELinux policies will also have new boolean names starting from Fedora 18 and sysVinit initscripts will be ported to systemd unit file.

The only feature rejected this time Systemd-unit-cleanup as developers were not convinced with it. You can view the full log of the IRC meeting here.

Next FESCo meeting will be held on 25th of this month. The schedule hasn't been announced yet.
