Zorin OS team has announced the release of Zorin OS 6 Core and Ultimate, the latest version of the Ubuntu-based distribution. Zorin is developed with Windows users in mind and offers an easy way to change the theme of the OS to look like Windows. It cam be an excellent OS for those who want the security of Linux with familiarity of Windows interface. The noticeable changes in this release which is based on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS are an all new Zorin Desktop environment, a redesigned software center, Gtk3, new kernel 3.2 and loads of other improvements.
As it's based on a Long Term Support Release, it will be supported with security updates for five years. The distro is aimed mainly at new users switching from Windows who want a familiar interface. It can also attract those who are dissatisfied with Gnome 3 or Unity interface.
The main innovative feature of this OS is a unique look changer which can help a users in creating a perfect desktop environment, the way he like it. With a click of a mouse, you can switch between Windows 7, XP and Gnome 2 desktop interfaces (in core edition) as well as Mac OS X, Unity and Windows 2000 in ultimate edition.
Zorin Web Browser Manager enables a user to set his favourite web-browser and Zorin Background Plus can enable some advanced desktop and compiz effects for enhanced experience.
You can set a video, sound or screensaver as your background or set it to the default "Space" animated background with the help of it. However this software is available only in ultimate edition.
