FOSS.IN, an annual Open-Source event from India, has finally announced dates for this year and is calling for participants.
The event is going to be held in NIMHANS Convention Center in Bangalore from 29th November to December 1st. The event will mostly cover various talks and tutorials on the subject.
The submissions for mini-conferences will open next week while space booking for for commercial as well as FOSS expo will begin next month. The last date of submitting proposals is 8th of July, 2012 and date of publishing final list of accepted proposals is on 6th of August.
The conferences will be on mostly free software related but this year they are inviting part participants to cover topics that go beyond software (for example, security, robotics, communication etc). The only requirement is that the proposals must be vendor neutral and FOSS related and the core of the topic must not be about product or service unless it is a FOSS project itself. The participants can give talks, tutorials and take part in mini-conferences, lightning talks, HackerSpaces, and also group events as Birds-of-Feather Meets, Expo etc.
The suggested list of topics for talks include Networking (including IPv6), Mobile development, Virtualization, Audio hacking, Embedded multimedia, FOSS OS design and low level programming, Fast booting, Open-source game engines cloud computing etc. You can visit this page for the full list of suggested proposals as well as other information.
