Linus Torvalds

Linus Torvalds, the father of Linux kernel, recently said that Nvidia is the worst company we [the Linux community] have ever dealt with.

Linus was so upset with Nvidia that he ended up saying "So Nvidia, Fuck You." Linus was responding to a question asked during a Q&A session at Aalto University in Finland. An attendee shared the problem she was facing with the infamous Nvidia Optimus chip on her Linux machine.

Nvidia has made it clear that it has no plans to support GNU/Linux on this chips and only supports Microsoft Windows. The situation with these chips is extremely bad as not only there is no support for switching between GPU chipsets, the presence of Optimus can actually prevent the use of Nvidia chipset, even if installed GPU drivers support it.

Linus said that he was very happy to say that it was an exception and not a rule. He also said that he was very happy to publicly point out that Nvidia is the worst trouble spots we have had with hardware manufacturers. This is sad as Nvidia's entire mobile market depends on Linux kernel used in Android. Linus repeated that Nvidia is the single worst company we have ever dealt with.

Check out the complete Q&A below. The famous Nvidia, f*ck you is at around 48 minutes.
