Google Chrome OS powered tablet may hit the market as soon as late November, says the blog Downloadsquad.
HTC, one of the major users of Google's Android OS, is developing this tablet. Accoridng to reports another of Google's close partner Verizon Wireless will be the carrier for the tablet.
HTC was the company which developed Google's Nexus One phone. We have not seem much of Chrome OS, so it is hard to speculate anything about the rich-features of the tablet. However, going by Android experience, Chrome OS is expected to beat expectations.
Chrome is based on Linux kernel, one of the most popular and advanced kernel in the world. The interesting aspect is once Chrome is out, Google will be sitting on two major operating systems in the worl -- Android and Chrome. What is the difference between the two? While Android aims to be a 'desktop' oriented operating system where you download, install and run software locally. Chrome is supposedly a browser based OS where most of your data will be saved and processed in the cloud.
The positioning of Chrome based tablet is a bit tricky. Will it compete with iPad or will it create an extremely light-weight alternative to Windows on netbooks. Google has already starting showing the cards about its Chrome strategy.
The company recently announced that it will launch the Chrome Store in October. Till date what we know, via Google announcements, is that this store will have a strong focus on games. This does give some hints that Google is looking at avegare Joe. Which means iPad's A is going to get more competition from big G.
