Did you ever wonder what Microsoft was doing when you heard about dangerous bills like ProtectIP or SOPA? What did Microsoft do when Google's accounts were exploited by alleged Chinese hackers using Microsoft's Internet Explorer?
Before you go there, lets see what is Microsoft?
Microsoft is one of those companies which failed to earn any respect from its users. People use Microsoft products because they are forced to use them. Every PC comes pre-installed with Windows thus you have to use it. They tried very hard in the early days to block and kill every other operating system. On the contrary Apple Mac and Linux is something people 'choose' to use. Same happened with IE, Bing and MS Office. The moment users started to get alternatives they switched.
Now Microsoft is using its FUD strategy and bogus claims to attack Android. Microsoft's Android extortion scam was exposed by Barnes & Noble, and it sends a message to all such companies who are being threatened by Microsoft to not sign any such deals with the extortion racket that Microsoft is running.
All these unethical business practices make one wonder what is Microsoft, as an abusive monopoly, doing to make the world a better place? You will find Microsoft missing from the picture. When you ask what are they doing to ensure freedom and openness of the web? You will find them on the other side, helping out the 'bad' guys to take control of our lives and make it miserable.
Chinese Hacks Hijacked Google Accounts
Do you remmeber the high-profile case where alleged Chinese hackers attacked Gmail accounts of human rights activist using Microsoft's crappy Internet Explorer? Even the US government got involved and Google threatened to pull out of China. How did Microsoft respond to this attack?
Microsoft looked at it as an opportunity to weaken Google in China. Instead of condemning such attacks Microsoft signed a deal with Chinese search engine to strengthen its weak position.
When the Hollywood proposed the dangerous Protect IP act, it was backed by the congressmen who get 'campaign' funds from the Hollywood boses. But, most industry players, concerned about user's freedom, opposed the act. Google was one of the most vocal opponent. What did Microsoft do for the 'dangerous' act?
Microsoft supported the act. Brad Smith, who brags every time Microsoft 'extortion' wing succeed in bullying an Android player into signing bogus patent deals, posted a blog titled 'Microsoft Offers its Support for the Protect IP Act'. He wrote:
We support the goals and approach of this important legislation, and urge the committee to report it.
Now, the Protect IP Act is back as SOPA and Microsoft, as a member of BSA, will support the heinous act. You should not be surprised to find all abusive monopolies supporting the bill including Apple whose late CEO wanted USA to become like China.
Do, you still use Microsoft technologies? Should you?
