After a long and glaring absence and a release for almost all major consoles, The Walking Dead has finally arrived on Android. The multiple awards winning game based on the famous comic book series of the same name was hinted at to be in development for smartphones and tablets in an announcement back in March.
Following a release on almost every console out there, it was high time that it received an Android version, given that Android now powers quite a few powerful hardware. The Android version is a compilation of the entire first season containing the episodes 1 through episode 5. The game has been developed by Telltale Games, the same people responsible for the game on all the other platforms. Telltale games are a famous development house that has quite a lot of famous titles like Sam & Max. The game’s page on the Play Store says its free with support for in app purchases. The in app purchase however refers to episodes 2 through episodes 5. Thus, basically, you get the first episode for free to try out and then get to pay for the next episodes, which is in tandem to Telltale Games’ policy on the other platforms, most of which has the first episode available for free. Which is kind of good, if you ask me, as we get to choose whether we like the game or not. Kind of like a demo, which is becoming non-existent nowadays,
About the game
The Walking Dead is a five-part game series set in the same universe as Robert Kirkman’s award-winning series. Play as Lee Everett, a convicted criminal, who has been given a second chance at life in a world devastated by the undead. With corpses returning to life and survivors stopping at nothing to maintain their own safety, protecting an orphaned girl named Clementine may offer him redemption in a world gone to hell. Experience events, meet people and visit locations that foreshadow the story of Deputy Sheriff Rick Grimes. A tailored game experience – actions, choices and decisions you make will affect how your story plays out across the entire series.
