Who will it be? 5 stars zeroed in for Star Wars 7

The casting of Star Wars: Episode 7 has been going for what now feels like light years, yet the only real confirmed role we have is that of film’s villain, played by Adam Driver. Though it is common knowledge now that as audience, we are going to be introduced to a new era of Jedis, but who is actually going to play the new hero?

According to Variety, Disney and director JJ Abrams have narrowed down the casting to five actors, who are now being rumoured to be in line as the film’s Jedi Padawan hero.

That list includes one previously reported name, Jesse Plemons (Breaking Bad). New names include Ed Speleers (Downton Abbey), John Boyega (Attack the Block) and lesser-knowns Matthew James Thomas and Ray Fisher.

Other actors who have been linked to the film include Gary Oldman, Benedict Cumberbatch and Zac Efron. Star Wars Episode 7 will begin shooting later in the year and is scheduled for release on December 18, 2015.
