Google surprised everyone at last year’s I/O when it didn’t announce any new devices or updates for Android. This year too, Google I/O conference scheduled for June 25-26 is expected to focus on new services. Taking this to be true, Android Geeks reports that Nexus 8 will be launched in July running Android 4.5.
Google’s head of Android and Chrome, Sundar Pichai announced this year’s Google I/O conference in a Google+post on Wednesday, but Android Geeks says people familiar with the matter have told them that we won’t see any new device or Android 4.5 launch before July. Even a Google Dublin employee reported that he has received information from higher officials that Android 4.5 along with Nexus 8 is scheduled to launch in July. Like last time, Google will strongly focus on introducing new service during their annual I/O conference.
There are also reports that Google in order to avoid stiff competition in the 7 inch tablet segment will no longer make tablets in that size. Google instead is moving to the 8 inch tablet market where there are less competitors. Till now we know of just Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8.0, Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 and LG G Pad 8.3 which are in the 8 inch tablet segment.
On the other hand sources from Taiwan are reporting that the Nexus 8 tablet launch could be further pushed to April. While there are no confirmed news about the Nexus 8 and Android 4.5 launch, it is safe to bet that we won’t be seeing any new Android version or Nexus at the Google I/O 2014.
