Steve Wozniak wants an Android Phone from Apple

Even though Steve Wozniak is co-founder, ex-employee and shareholder of Apple, he is not biased towards the company and has made several comments which really doesn’t go in favor of Apple. Once he had claimed that Google Now is more accurate than Siri. While in an interview to Wired recently he said, “There’s nothing that would keep Apple out of the Android market as a secondary phone market.”

Steve has already supported Android and uses both Android and iOS devices. He even wishes Apple and Google worked together to bring out best technologies. Wozniak was once heard saying,“I wish to God that Apple and Google were partners in the future,” to BBC.

Now, Wozniak wants Apple to work with Google and make Android iPhones. He says,“We could compete very well. People like the precious looks of stylings and manufacturing that we do in our product compared to the other Android offerings. We could play in two arenas at the same time.”

He also took a dig at Samsung, ridiculing their extra software blings, which he says are not true innovations. “You pick up a Samsung phone and say smile and it takes a picture, but how much innovation is that? That’s just throwing in a lot of features.” It appears that Woz likes Android, but is simply not satisfied with the hardware manufacturers, especially Samsung who is the largest smartphone maker currently. Surely, Apple devices are regarded as benchmark for industrial design in consumer electronics and I think HTC is the only company among the Android manufacturers which has come closest to Apple, in that segment.

Apple and Google have been arch rivals and we cannot really imagine them coming together to work on an Android device. However, Apple could make a move like Amazon and fork Android, if it wants to enter the Android market. Again it is an unlikely scenario, because we know Apple wants everything proprietary in their devices.

Steve Wozniak appears to not involve himself in all the corporate rivalry and just wants the best of his devices, but I am afraid his wishes are most likely not going to be fulfilled.
