Acer adds new Android all-in-one to it’s lineup

Acer is on an absolute tear right now. The Taiwanese company has released its second all in one monitor/Android PC in as many days. The Acer DA223 HQL offers a 21.5″ 1920 x 1080p Android all-in-one device that can also be connected to any Windows PC and used as a monitor. I know we’re thinking that we’ve seen this before, but there is a catch. This device is meant to be portable. That’s right. It has a built in battery and is meant to be “carried around the home for use in every room.”

The pc runs on Android Jellybean, and utilizes a quadcore Snapdragon 600 processor clocked at 1.7Ghz to get the job done. We’re not certain of the memory or storage sizes, but 2GB and 16 or 32GB respectively will not seem out of place by any means. For those of us who love to grab our devices with all 10 tentacles, the HQL features a capacitive 10 point multitouch screen. Acer boasts of wide viewing angles and a modern design that fits anywhere, but, in order to have a true experience with the device, one would need to part with $699. At this point, I’m not quite sure of whether it’s a good deal or not, but, with many tablets retailing for about $500, one would be hard pressed to accuse Acer of being unfair.

Of the 1 million plus Android activations that take place daily, we’re not quite sure of how many of them are all-in-one PC’s, but if this trend continues and devices like these prove to be great performers, then I wouldn’t mind having one of these around the house. Once again, Android continues to be present on multiple form factors and the list is only likely to grow from here on. CES should provide more footage and information about Acer’s new offerings, and we’re just as excited as any other enthusiast out there.

About Myril Kennedy

I am a fan of technology and Android in particular. It has helped to turn the mobile industry on its head, and its open source nature has opened many doors that were previously closed. I am also a self confessed Google fanboy, so it may be reflected in my views from time to time.
