WordPress 3.8 ‘Parker’ released, brings brand new modern design

WordPress has announced the release of version 3.8, code named ‘Parker’ in honor of Charlie Parker, bebop innovator. With this release WordPress admin page gets a major facelift featuring a modern design.

Matt Mullenweg said, “3.8 brings a fresh new look to the entire admin dashboard. Gone are overbearing gradients and dozens of shades of grey — bring on a bigger, bolder, more colorful design!”

WP is now using the Open Sans typeface “which provides simple, friendly text that is optimized for both desktop and mobile viewing. It’s even open source, just like WordPress,” said Matt.

It’s not just the cosmetics, there are many improvements which improves the experience for an admin.

With version 3.7 WP has moved to automatic updates model for minor releases eliminating one of the biggest issues with WordPress sites. Most WP sites get cracked as the users never update the site software or plugins leaving the site vulnerable to attacks. But users will have to do a manual update for major releases. So, if you are running WP, visit your dashboard and update your site immediately.
