Google Play Store updated to version 4.4

Google has released a new version of Google Play Store and the 4.4 update is rolling out to users gradually. This might mark transition of Google Apps into the KitKat world with revamped interfaces.

The most noticeable feature of the new Play Store app is the slide out navigation drawer which tries to have a uniform design approach across all of the proprietary Google apps. Other than the new navigation drawer not much seems to have changed but we are waiting for ‘Newsstand’ to show up in the next update as revealed by an apk teardown.

Google is hosting a Google Play event in New York City on 24th, we can expect new services and features related to Google Play to be introduced at the event and ‘Newsstand’ could be one of them.

The Google Play Store app should get automatically updated to version 4.4, if this is not happening in your case you can easily download the apk from here. Other than that you can just try to reboot to kick in the update, or uninstall Google Play and get it reinstalled.

We are looking for aspiring bloggers and journalists for The Mukt. If you are interested, apply now!

(Note: we don’t recommend downloading and installing .apk files – these may contain malicious code, always stick to Google Play Store – Editor)
