Firefox phone will be available on eBay for $80

The smartphone landscape is dominated by Android and iOS with the rest struggling for the distant 3rd spot. Canonical, the parent company of the most popular GNULinux based operating system Ubuntu, is also trying their hands at the mobile phones.

While Canonical is still trying to find a hardware player to bring its mobile operating system to the market, Firefox has adopted a totally different and unique route. Instead of keeping its device exclusive to select few, Mozilla, along with ZTE, is bringing its smartphone to the market through eBay at an unprecedented price.

You can get a Firefox phone for mere $80 now! The phone is available only in the UK and US at the moment.

Dai Wenhong, VP of ZTE Corporation said, “It is great honor to launch the ZTE Open Firefox OS phone worldwide through eBay. ZTE is devoted to providing more options for customers globally and enabling them to live better lives via advanced technology. The ZTE Open offers customers a smartphone experience at an incredible price point, making it ideal for cost conscious consumers or those looking to upgrade to a smartphone for the first time.”
