After a lot of fanfare and TV commercials, Micromaxx’s flagship Canvas 4 hit the Indian market for Rs. 17,990. Micromaxx announced the Canvas 4 in June this year and had also allowed consumers to place pre-orders for the phone. The pre-orders alone were over 11,500 units. Quite impressive.
The Canvas will be running on Android Jelly Bean 4.2.1, powered by a 1.2 GHz Microtek Quad-core processor, 1 GB of RAM and 16 GBs of internal memory. Quite run of the mill configuration for today’s standard and not to mention similar to the Karbonn Titanium S9. It also has a HD 5.0 inch IPS screen running at 720p.
The phone is also touted to recognize some gestures, like flip to silent mode, automatic call when you hold it near your ear and flip for loudspeaker when in call (HTC Sense, anyone?) Along with all these (ripped off?) features, there’s one innovation, a new unlocking system where you blow air over the screen to unlock the screen(what?!). Now that’s cool!
The phone is specifications are as follows:
- 5.0-inch HD (720×1280) display
- 1.2GHz quad-core processor
- 1GB RAM
- 16GB internal storage, expandable up to 32GB
- 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front camera
- Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean
- 2,000mAH battery
Overall, a good phone, given the price range and the other offerings from the competition.
