A Swedish Animation and Visual Effects Studio named, Mad Crew has decided to use Calligra’s digital painting application ‘Krita’, as part of its visual effects workflow. Member of Mad Crew developers, Fredik Brannbacka is said to have told the developers “We are damn happy with Krita!”, as claimed by a post on Krita Blog.
Mad Crew is generally known for its TV and movie commercials. The company says that, one of the primary reasons for choosing Krita is due to its professional support options for the program produced by German KO GmbH, which makes commercially supported builds of Krita, named aas Krita Studio. It is available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS and Windows. Support for Ubuntu is currently in development.

The blog post from Krita also states that recent improvements made to code base of the product is going to help all Krita users. Apart from this, the adoption by Mad Crew signifies that the program is under testing conditions as a part of the professional working environment, among VRay and Maya applications. This will ensure further improvements to the application code.
As a 2D digital art solution, Krita supports both bitmap and vector illustrations. The application is available for download from http://krita.org/download
